Although most tech company investors already know this, this example goes to show that you don't need to come up with an innovative business concept or high tech invention to launch a successful technology business.

The iFart Mobile iPhone app was launched in December 2008 by Infomedia, a technology company owned by Internet marketer and author Joel Comm. By January 2009, Infomedia sold 350,000 copies of the app, and continued to generate over $10,000 a day.

Apple named the iFart Mobile app as one of "Top all time paid apps".

As of 2008, Joel Comm stated that Infomedia has sold over 800,000 copies of the iFart Mobile app, at 99 cents each. The company also generates additional revenues from in-app purchases. In 2011, Infomedia was listed for sale with an asking price of $1 million.

Go figure.
